In a statement sighted by Thisterm.com, the not-for-profit-making organization said the drones to be operated by Zipline Officials in Mampong will transport question papers to candidates at Anyinofi SDA Basic School in the Plains.

The decision to transport the 2024 BECE question papers via drones follows the inability of WAEC to send examination materials to candidates in the area after the Sene River overflew its banks during the conduct of the 2023 BECE.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said that just like last year arrangements have been made this academic year to ensure that no candidate is deprived of the opportunity to write the national examination in July 2024.

Commenting on funds for the 34th edition of the BECE, WAEC said it has so far received GH¢55,873,698.87 from the government adding that arrangements are being made for the release of the remainder of the examination fees.

Following the conduct of the examination slated for Monday, July 8, 2024, to Monday, July 15, 2024, the management of the Council has urged candidates to adhere strictly rules and regulations concerning the examination below;

1. Mobile phones and other electronic communication devices are prohibited at examination centres. Neither Supervisors, Invigilators nor Candidates are permitted to bring mobile phones into the examination halls.

2. Parents must ensure their wards do not send mobile phones to the examination centres. The candidate’s entire results would be cancelled if found with a mobile phone. Supervisors/Invigilators are to search candidates thoroughly to ensure that they do not have in their possession mobile phone(s) or any other foreign material in the examination hall.

3. Proprietors of school, parents, headmasters, teachers and all other persons not involved in the conduct of the examination are not allowed at the examination centres. The Council has made adequate arrangements for the security of the candidates at all centres across the country.

4. Candidates must ensure that they write their names and index numbers in full on their answer booklets and question papers.
