WAEC to cancel WASSCE subject results of candidates who did this
The subject results of candidates or final Senior High School students who wrote their telephone number on their WASSCE answer booklet will be canceled, an official of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said.
In an interview monitored by Thisterm.com, the WAEC official said such or similar act or practice is considered examination malpractice by the management of the non-profit organization responsible for the conduct of the WASSCE.
“Candidates who will add their telephone or mobile numbers for Examiners to contact them have plans to do evil or commit a crime, The West African Examinations Council considers that as an examination malpractice,” She stated.
The WAEC official however noted candidates who solicited help from an Examiner without adding their contact number on the WASSCE answer booklet will have their results released saying that is not considered examination malpractice.
According to her, the Ghana Examinations Committee has given the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) the go-ahead to cancel the subject results of all candidates confirmed to be involved in any form of examination malpractice.
The Council after completing the marking of the 2023 WASSCE for School scripts is yet to release the results of candidates who participated in the international examination conducted from late July to late September 2023.
A source close to WAEC has told Thisterm that WASSCE results processing, as well as other post-examination activities, are currently ongoing. “The results at the appropriate time will be made available for candidates to check,” he added.
He urged students, relevant stakeholders, and the public to treat as false any information or purported statement indicating the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2023 WASSCE for School results online.
The 2023 international examination results the inside source said when released will be published only on the West African Examinations Council results checking portal at https://ghana.waecdirect.org/ for candidates to access.
“I will advise the general public, particularly WASSCE graduates who sat for the examination to be wary of websites announcing the release of the results and of persons who promise to upgrade results for a fee,” the source said.
