WAEC releases 2023 BECE school and private results online – Check

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional BECE school and private results of Junior High School students who sat for the 2023 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a blog post sighted by Thisterm.com, WAEC said the release of the 2023 BECE for School and Private Candidates results was approved at the 34th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee held on November 6, 2023

The Examinations Council also said the 33rd BECE results release follows a thorough completion of investigations into several cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the national examination and marking of scripts.

Students who sat for the examination and wish to check their results can do so at https://eresults.waecgh.org using a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) result checker card which contains a Serial number and a 4-digit PIN.

“The Council will despatch the 2023 BECE results of school candidates to their respective Junior High Schools through the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education,” the management of the not-for-profit organization said.

Concerning examination malpractice, WAEC said it had cancelled the subject results of 312 school candidates and 3 private candidates for bringing foreign materials, thus, prepared notes, textbooks and printed materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates.

The entire results of 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate have also been cancelled for possession of mobile phones in the exam hall. It has also withheld the subject results of 180 school and 4 private candidates for various suspected offences.

“Meanwhile, the scripts of 22,270 candidates, in certain subjects are being scrutinized for reported cases of mass cheating. Their results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations,” the Council added.

A total of 600,900 candidates made up of 300,404 males and 300,496 females registered to sit for the school examination. Out of the total number of candidates who participated in the BECE, 3,366 candidates were absent.

How to check BECE School and Private results

1. Visit the BECE result portal

2. Enter your 2022 BECE Index Number.

3. Re-enter the Index Number to confirm it is correct

4. Select Examination type (BECE)

5. Enter Examination year (2023)

6. Enter the Serial Number on the result checking voucher

7. Enter the PIN on the result checking voucher

8. Tick the ‘I am not a robot’ box and

9. Click on Submit and wait for the display in the popup window. This may take several minutes but it’s worth the wait.
