WAEC make ‘changes’ in how to check 2023 WASSCE results online

The West African Examinations Council as part of measures to make this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School results checking convenient has updated the steps to check the WASSCE results online.

An official of the Council briefing Thisterm.com on the new changes said the WASSCE candidates to check their results this month will be required to enter their Date of Birth alongside other necessary details at the WASSCE result portal.

“Prospective candidates previously were not asked to provide their Date of Birth as part of the WASSCE for School result checking process but now they must do that at https://ghana.waecdirect.org,” the staff of the Council said.

Asked when the provisional results of Senior High School students who partook in the 2023 edition of the WASSCE for School will be released, the WAEC official said the examination results are expected to be out on December 14, 2023.

A total of 447,204 candidates comprising 211,834 males and 235,370 females drawn from 975 public and private Senior High Schools (SHS) entered the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.

This figure indicates an increase of 5.8% compared to the 2022 entry figure of 422,883. The WASSCE took place at 834 centres. A total of 60 subjects, comprising 4 core and 56 electives were made available to prospective candidates.

The 2023 edition of the WASSCE for School Candidates commenced on Monday, July 31, 2023, with the Visual Art Project work. The international examination administered at 834 examination centres ended on September 26, 2023.

How to buy WASSCE result checker card

1. Visit the WASSCE checker card website

2. Click on the “Buy Now” button.

3. Fill in the details by adding your First name, Last name, Phone number and E-mail address.

4. Scroll down and click on “Proceed To Payment”.

5. Select “Pay with Mobile Money” and enter your MoMo number.

6. Click on “Confirm”.

7. Approve payment on your phone by entering your Mobile Money Pin.

How to check WASSCE result

1. Visit the WASSCE result portal

2. Enter your Index number

3. Select Examination type (WASSCE School)

4. Select Examination year (2023)

5. Enter your Date of birth (day-month-year)

6. Enter your voucher card serial number

7. Enter the PIN on the voucher card

8. Re-enter your Index number and

9. Select Examination year (2023)

10. Click on the Submit button and wait for your results to be displayed in the next window.
