WAEC adds feature to check exam ‘withheld result’ on Waecgh.org
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced a feature on its website (https://waecgh.org) to update various examination candidates on whether an exam withheld result has been released or is still pending release.
A staff of the Council explaining the new development to Thisterm.com said the new feature forms part of the management of the Examination Council’s effort to ensure students do not fall victim to results upgrade scams.
“The withheld results status feature has been added to the website to give timely updates to candidates who according to WAEC allegedly engaged in examination misconduct and have had their results not released,” the official stated.
Asked if the not-for-profit-making Examination Body is considering a new portal to check pending WASSCE or BECE for School results, the Council’s official said “WAEC is committed to making examination results-checking more friendly.”
He said WAEC has introduced eresults.waecgh.org for candidates who sat for BECE (private and school) examination to check their results and ghana.waecgh.org for WASSCE private and school candidates to check their WASSCE results.
“Candidates who may encounter problems in checking any of the WAEC administered examinations results should visit the Council’s helpdesk portal (https://helpdesk.waecgh.org/) for immediate support or assistance,” the staff noted.
His comment comes after WAEC said the scripts of 22,270 candidates, in certain subjects are being scrutinized for reported cases of mass cheating. The results it said may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations.
In a related development, WAEC responsible for the conduct of the country’s examinations including BECE, Nov/Dec and G/ABCE has redesigned its official website (https://waecgh.org) after was hacked by unknown cybercriminals.
Speaking to Thisterm.com on the WAECghorg redesign, an official of the non-profit organization said the new layout is to make the website user-friendly to members of the general public, particularly students and institutions.
Asked if the https://waecgh.org new interface is inspired by the October 16, 2023, cyber attack, the WAEC official replied no adding that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard the site against future attacks.
