UEW suspends affiliated Colleges of Education exams fees increase
The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) at the Univerity of Education, Winneba has suspended a 20 per cent increase in examination fees for the university’s affiliate Colleges of Education
In a statement sighted by Thisterm.com, UEW said the decision to suspend the 20% affiliate Colleges of Education examination fees was taken at the 11th regular meeting of the ITECPD Professional Advisory Board on April 3, 2024.
“At the 11th regular meeting of the ITECPD Professional Advisory Board of the University of Education, Winneba, held on Wednesday, 3rd April 2024, the Board decided to suspend the implementation of the 20% increase in the examination payable by students of the affiliated Colleges until further notice.
This action was necessitated by the need to hold further consultation on the examination fee increase. We hereby, convey the above decision of the Board for your information and appropriate action,” UEW stated in the statement.

The public Colleges of Education affiliated with the University Of Education, Winneba (UEW) are:
1. St. Louis College of Education, Kumasi.
2. Presby Women’s College of Education, Aburi
3. S.D.A. College of Education, Koforidua
4. Presby Women’s College of Education, Agogo
5. Methodist College of Education, Oda
6. Bia-Lamplighter College of Education, Bia
7. Presby College of Education, Akropong-Akwapim
UEW-affiliated CoE admission requirement
To gain admission into any of the UEW-affiliated government Colleges of Education listed above, prospective applicants must meet specific academic criteria based on their educational backgrounds:
1. Applicants with WASSCE results should possess Credit passes (A1-C6) in three (3) CORE subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.
2. SSSCE applicants are required to have credit passes (A-D) in three (3) CORE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, along with credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.
3. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) applicants must hold a TVET Certificate II with a Lower Credit (C-) or better in six (6) subjects, comprising three core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three relevant Elective subjects.
