Primetime honours 1st SHS1 ‘OWASS’ student to partake in NSMQ
Producer of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz, Primetime Limited has honoured first-year Opoku Ware School 2023 NSMQ contestant, Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah for being the first Senior High School (SHS) One student to partake in the quiz since 1993.
“Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah, the 2022 Junior Science and Maths Quiz Champion and a finalist for the 2023 NSMQ has been honoured by Primetime as the first form one student to participate in the NSMQ since 1993,” a social media post sighted by Thisterm.com said.
After winning the 2022 Junior Science and Maths Quiz (JSMQ) for Good Shepherd R/C JHS, first-year Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah made history by leading the Opoku Ware School (OWASS) to their grand finale of the 2023 NSMQ.
Presbyterian Boys Second School (PRESEC) outperformed Opoku Ware School and Achimota School (MOTOWN) to win the 2023 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) organized by Primetime Limited.
Winning the competition for the 8th time, The All Boys Senior High School ended the final round 5 with 40 points as against Achimota School’s 28 points as silver medalists and Opoku Ware School’s 23 points as bronze medalists.
The Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC) was awarded GH¢70,000 for winning the 2023 edition of the NSMQ with Achimota School receiving GH¢50,000, and Kumasi-based Opoku Ware School receiving GH¢35,000.
The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz commenced on October 6, 2023. As a highlight of the celebrations, this year’s NSMQ was hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra.
This historic occurrence marks the first time the National Championship spans across two regions, with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as the venue for the Preliminary four stages and the grand finale at the National Theatre.
