Police arrest 4 PRESEC students for ‘staging’ ¢340k kidnap incident
Four students of Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC) Legon, Accra including two adults have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service through an intelligence-led operation and investigation for staging a kidnapping incident.
With names of the All Boys Senior High School kidnappers withheld, the police in a statement sighted by Thisterm.com said the two(2) adults among the six (6) are Isaac Kissi Adjei alias Kofi Black and Courage Teiko alias Timmy.
The Police statement noted that preliminary investigations revealed that one of the juveniles, in an attempt to extort money from his parents to enable him to travel abroad, conspired with the others to stage the kidnapping incident.
In the process of the staged kidnap incident, they demanded an amount of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵340,000.00) as ransom from the alleged victim’s parents of which they were paid GH₵20,000.00.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the juveniles, in an attempt to extort money from his parents to enable him to travel to abroad, conspired with the others to stage the kidnapping incident.
In the process, they demanded an amount of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 340,000.00) as ransom from the alleged victim’s parents,” the Ghana Police Service said in the press statement dated April 5, 2024.
In line with best practice, the Service says the identities of the juveniles who are students of PRESEC Legon have been withheld and their parents and guardians have been duly informed, as Police investigations into the incident continue.
