MoE acclaimed ‘NPP’ 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Bosomtwe
The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum amid the 2024 election has unanimously been endorsed as the Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti region.
In a social media post sighted by Thisterm.com, Adutwum said “The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Delegates in Bosomtwe Constituency this afternoon endorsed me as Parliamentary Candidate of the party by a popular acclamation.
The over 1000 delegates approved my candidature to contest on the ticket of the NPP at a special delegates conference, having emerged as the only candidate after the close of nomination.
The exercise which was supervised by the District Director of the Electoral Commission was also witnessed by the Regional Secretary of the party, Lawyer Adom Appiah.
I thanked the delegates for renewing their confidence in me and assured them of my unwavering determination to represent their interest to the best of my ability.
I urged them to work hard in their respective communities so that we can collectively win the 2024 general elections for the continuity of the good work of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
In a related development, the Education Minister has said he is ready and willing to serve as the running mate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, in the 2024 presidential elections.
The Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM monitored by Thisterm.com said “I am here to serve my nation, in any capacity I find myself I will serve this nation.”
Dr Adutwum’s declaration has set him up in direct competition with other prominent figures within the NPP including former Education Minister and now Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
59-year-old Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is seen as the perfect candidate to balance the presidential ticket, either geographically or ideologically, and to make them the best pair to happen in the NPP, in its bid to break the eight.
The bet on Bosomtwe Constituency’s Parliamentary candidate as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate stems from his humility, loyalty, dedication, hard work and commitment, as well as his significant contributions to the promotion of education.
