Govt to launch Ghana Smart Schools project to enhance education
Aligned with efforts to enhance e-learning and digitalization, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will launch the ‘Ghana Smart Schools Project’ on Monday, 25th March 2024, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has said.
The initiative according to MoE is to enhance Senior High School education by providing teaching and learning management systems digital learning content and Electronic devices to all second-cycle schools nationwide.
“The project aligns with the Ministry of Education’s digitalization agenda for pretertiary education. It supports the government’s goal of leveraging technological advancements to prepare Ghanaian students for the fourth industrial revolution
The Ghana Smart Schools Project is in fulfilment of the Education for Sustainable Development Agenda, which is considered a key driver for rapid socio-economic transformation,” it said in a statement sighted by Thisterm.com.
The upcoming launch of the Smart Schools Project comes after His Excellency in his 2024 State of the Nation Address (SoNA) said the one-tablet per-student policy at the Senior High School level will be formally launched by March this year.
“Indeed, the one-tablet-per-student policy at the Senior High School level is being rolled out and will formally be launched by me next month. It is a great tool to help bridge the gap between disadvantaged and privileged students
But a lot remains to be done. Many basic schools require more adequate classrooms, and furniture, and the environment in some of these schools can be made more suitable for learning and teaching,” Akufo-Addo said.
