Ghana’s ‘transformed’ education system go understudy by Uganda
An eleven-member delegation from Uganda led by Madam Kabahena Flavia Rwabuhoro, Chairperson for Committee on Gender, Labour and Social Development. is in Ghana on a 5-day working visit to understudy its education system
In a Ghana News Agency (GNA) blog post issued by Thisterm.com, the Ugandan delegation will as part of their mission visit various agencies under the Education Ministry of Education (MoE) to engage their leaderships on the education reforms.
Receiving the delegation at the Education Ministry, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister in Charge of Education said the visit would go a long way to deepen the relationship between Ghana and Uganda.
Explaining the current state of Ghana’s education reforms with pictures and videos of ongoing projects, he said “We have not reached where we want to go but we have moved forward and hope that we will become a model on the African continent soon.”
Dr Yaw Adutwum and other directors at the Ministry spent time answering several questions from the Ugandan team who wanted to understand the various policies being implemented in the country as part of the education reforms.
A Member of the Ugandan Parliament, Madam Kabahena Flavia Rwabuhoro commended Ghana’s educational strides, saying, it had become a model for other African countries.
The delegation has since visited various agencies under the Ministry to engage management and staff on their programmes and policies so that they could adopt some aspects of the policies.
In other news, the Education Minister has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation in the field of Higher Education and Training between the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa.
In attendance at the Memorandum of Understanding signing were His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, and His Excellency President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is amongst the 5 other MoUs signed during the BNC as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen and solidify bilateral ties between the countries.
