The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Eric Nkansah in a letter to the directors instructed them to compile a list of all teachers who were deducted for the TM1 laptop in 2022 but have not yet received their devices.

The GES directive follows the delays and inability to distribute the Teachers Mate 1 laptops to primary districts including Akyemansa, Birim North, and Kwahu Afram Plains North.

The statement from the Director-General indicated that the list must reach the Controller and Accountant General Department through the Ghana Education Service (GES) by July 16, 2024, in the July 2024 validation.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) has commenced the distribution mop-up exercise of the Mate 1 laptops. So far over 280,903 laptops have been distributed to teachers nationwide.

Scheduled between June 15 and July 30, 2024, the Daily Graphic in a blog post sighted by Thisterm.com said the mop-up exercise will see about 34,562 TM1 laptops distributed to prospective government school teachers.

Among those to benefit from the outstanding distribution the newspaper said are 21,482 public sector primary school teachers; 3,402 teachers on Study Leave and 9,678 staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
