GES prescribes web browser to do 2023 ‘SHS/TVET’ self-placement

self-placement - CSSPS

As the Ghana Education Service (GES) releases the computer second cycle school placement of students who sat for the 2023 edition of the BECE, let’s take a look at which web browser is fit for SHS/SHTS/TVET self-placement purposes.

The self-placement the management of the Ghana Education Service has explained is when a student is allowed to select available schools at the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) depending on the grade.

This placement type is very crucial as a study has indicated it usually goes in favour of students in the urban areas where internet connection is stable and internet cafes are not hard to find unlike in the rural places in the country.

But, all other things being equal, the Ghana Education Service (GES) say the Chrome browser is suitable for checking the school placement whereas based on our experience with the CSSPS portal we think Mozilla Firefox is the best.

We prefer the Mozilla Firefox browser over Google’s Chrome because the former unlike the latter will save you from connection timeouts which delays your chances of selecting your preferred school at the self-placement module.

A server connection timeout happens when the CSSPS portal server is taking too long to reply to a data request made from your computer due to huge traffic, the self-school placement is a nationwide exercise so you can just imagine.

For better results, use a computer that supports the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Chrome web browser. Also, note that doing the self-placement on your smartphone won’t be ‘smart’ so visit an internet cafe to start the whole process.

This year over 500,000 students who sat for the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education (MoE) in an interview monitored by Thisterm.com said will get computer school placement.

How to check SHS/SHTS/TVET placement

3. Enter your BECE Index Number (eg. 100000000019) and
