GES names SHS headteachers interdicted over illegal fees charging
The Ghana Education Service has released the names of government second-cycle school headteachers interdicted for their alleged involvement in charging unauthorized fees from newly admitted first-year students in their schools.
In a statement shared with Thisterm.com, the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said has it initiated comprehensive investigations into the conduct of these headteachers.
The affected headteachers are Selina Anane Afoakwa, Headmistress of Kumasi Girls SHS, Nataniel Asamoah, Headmaster of Asanteman SHS, Andrews Boateng, Headmaster of Kumasi Senior High Technical School, Kwadwo Obeng-Appiah, Headmaster of Manso-Edubia SHS, Daniel Boamah Duku,
Others are Headmaster of the Agric Nzema Community SHS, Gladys Sarfowah, Headmistress of Nkawie Senior High Technical School, Ampong Ahmed Omar, Headmaster of Collins SHS, Afi Yaw Stephen, Headmaster of Berekum Senior High School, and Joseph Jilinjeh Abudu, Headmaster of Odomaseman Senior High School.
Additionally, the headteachers of O’Reilly Senior High School and Ghana Senior High School, Nadia Lartechoe Annan and Patience Naki Mensah, respectively, are also part of the interdicted group of headteachers under investigation.
The Ghana Education Service has accused these headteachers of charging students various unapproved fees, including house dues, books, calculators, admission process fees, and charges for the printing of slips, files, and hymn books.

6. Ms. Gladys Sarfowah – Headmistress of Nkawie Senior High Technical School
7. Mr. Ampong Ahmed Omar – Headmaster of Collins SHS
8. Mr. Afi Yaw Stephen – Headmaster of Berekum Senior High School
9. Mr. Joseph Jilinjeh Abudu – Headmaster of Odomaseman Senior High School
10. Mrs. Nadia Lartechoe Annan – Headmistress of O’Reilly Senior High School
11. Mrs. Patience Naki Mensah – Headmistress Ghana Senior High School
In a related development, Africa Education Watch has said it is compiling its own list of heads of Senior High Schools charging unauthorized fees from first-year students for submission to the Service for investigation and action.
The Director of the education think tank – Kofi Asare in a social media post sighted Thisterm.com said unlike previous cases, the Ghana Education Service and Ghana TVET must not attempt to hide the outcome of these investigations.
